Nausea during pregnancy 🤰💚

Nausea during pregnancy is a common condition that many women experience. It's often called "morning sickness," but it can actually happen at any time of the day. Nausea is usually more common in the first trimester of pregnancy, but in some women it can last until the end of pregnancy.

Nausea is caused by increased hormone levels (especially hCG - human chorionic gonadotropin) and hormonal changes experienced during pregnancy. This can help your baby and your body adapt to new conditions, but unfortunately, it can manifest itself as an uncomfortable symptom.

The following methods can combat nausea:
  • Eat light meals: Do not fast, but do not overeat. Eating less and more often can help reduce nausea.
  • Drink fluids slowly: Consuming too much fluid during meals can cause stomach fullness and nausea. Drink fluids slowly and in small amounts.
  • Avoid spicy, oily and heavy foods: These types of foods can increase nausea, so try to avoid them.
  • Use ginger: Ginger is a natural remedy that helps relieve nausea. Drinking ginger tea, eating ginger candies, or chewing fresh ginger slices may be helpful.
  • Drink plenty of fluids: Drinking refreshing beverages such as water, mineral water, herbal teas, or peppermint tea can hydrate your body and reduce nausea.
  • Create appropriate environmental conditions: When preparing food, use ventilation to avoid being bothered by food odors. Avoid strong-smelling products that can cause nausea.
  • Take care of your mouth during vomiting: Rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth after vomiting to reduce the harmful effects of the acids in your mouth.
  • Rest and sleep: Fatigue can increase nausea. Try to get plenty of rest and sleep.
  • Carbohydrate and protein-rich foods: You can eat pasta, boiled potatoes, lean rice pilaf or porridge.

If the nausea is severe and has a negative impact on your quality of life, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor. Your doctor can provide you with additional help and prescribe medication if necessary. However, for most women, these symptoms usually subside later in pregnancy and often disappear completely after delivery.
