KARABAKH COUNTY
This cake, which is one of the national sweets of Azerbaijan, is very satisfying despite its simple composition, which has been preserved for years. With its soft dough, delicious filling, and simple preparation process, Karabakh keta is one of the sweets that is loved and eaten not only on holidays, but also on ordinary days.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 kg of flour
- 200 g of butter
- 100 g of powdered sugar
- 350 ml warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 11 grams of yeast
- 5 g sugar vanilla
For the filling:
- 150 grams of flour
- 200 g of powdered sugar
- 100 g of butter
- 5 g sugar vanilla
For the top:
- 1 egg yolk
Preparation:
Butter is removed from the refrigerator to soften in advance at room temperature. Then add flour, powdered sugar, eggs, soft butter, milk, vanilla and yeast to a large bowl and knead the dough on medium softness, which does not stick to the hand. It is left to ferment for 15-20 minutes.
In the meantime, all the ingredients for the filling are mixed well.
The rested dough is divided into medium-sized logs and slightly spread. The filling is placed in the middle of the dough and folded, again spread lightly and decorated with egg yolk using a fork.
Meatballs are baked in the oven at 170 degrees until browned.
Tip: You can also add yeast by pre-mixing it with some milk and powdered sugar.
